Overcoming the Impossible

This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6

Have you ever been through a difficult time where you really thought and believed “There’s no way I can do this” or “I just can’t go on any further.” I sure have…almost daily. The more I live and experience, the more I see just how unprepared, inadequate and illequipped I am. Sometimes I feel like I have so many who are counting on me and I’m trying the best I can, only to face the possibility of failure time and time and time again. While these are certainly not pleasant times, I know they are for a reason.

“There will be times when obeying God will lead you to impossible situations. If you look at your own skills, knowledge, and resources, you will become discouraged. However, when you became a Christian, God placed His Spirit within you. You now have the resources of heaven at your disposal. The success of your endeavors will not depend on the way you use your own resources but on how you obey the Spirit of God.” (Blackaby, Experiencing God Day-by-Day)

Ultimately, when I’m stretched beyond what I believe is possible for me, it takes me to the point of having to draw closer and lean on God even more. And that’s exactly what He wants for us. Consider this…In Him, nothing is impossible. Because God lives in the hearts of every believer, we have the power of God in us. So, essentially, nothing is impossible for us. But, God creates impossible situations to draw us closer to Him. That’s His greatest desire. Not for us to be successful. Not for us to overcome seemingly unsurmountable obstacles. Not for us to even be the greatest Christian living, proclaiming His name around the world. His greatest desire is us. Our hearts, our love, our affection…And because of this relentless pursuit of our love and relationship, God will often use seemingly unsurmountable situations to put us in a place where our only response is to pursue Him with all our hearts, minds, and strength.

What situations are you facing today that are leading you to Him?

By His grace and for His glory!
